Marks Research Group

Custom-designed surveys tailored to your business questions and goals. Findings that make an impact. Managed end to end.

What we do

We offer end-to-end employee survey research for organizations that want real answers. That means we handle everything: designing the survey, fielding it, analyzing the results, and writing a plain-language report with concrete recommendations. Most of the time, you don't need a people analytics team or a fancy new tool. You just need well-researched findings that inform your decisions, and we provide exactly that.

Our focus includes but is not limited to: measuring engagement and culture, identifying pain points in business processes (e.g. sales or product development cycles), and uncovering drivers of turnover or friction on your team. Whether you're trying to understand why people are leaving, how your managers are performing, or what's holding your team back, we build the research to understand your employees and guide impactful changes.

Why work with us

  • 🎓 PhD-level rigor. Our work is grounded in industrial-organizational psychology and validated research methodology, not guesswork. The questions we ask, and how we interpret the answers, are built to hold up.
  • 🏢 High-level experience. Years of applied research at one of the world's most data-driven companies. We know how to turn messy, real-world data into decisions that hold up under scrutiny.
  • 📋 Fully hands-off for you. No reviewing question banks or exporting CSV files. We manage the entire process and hand you a report you can walk into a meeting with.
  • 🎯 You get the researcher, not an account manager. When you work with a large firm, your project often gets handed off to a junior employee. With us, someone with PhD level education AND many years of experience with companies at or near the top of the Fortune 500 list is involved from start to finish.

Who this is for

You're a founder, HR leader, or executive who has real questions about your workforce but no dedicated people analytics function to answer them. Maybe you've tried pulling insights from exit interviews or run a quick engagement survey that went nowhere. That's exactly the gap we fill.

FAQ

Common questions

A few of the things people ask most often before getting started.

Individual responses are always kept confidential. We aggregate and report results so that no single person can be identified, and we set a minimum group size before any segment (team, department, location) is broken out separately. Employees are far more candid when they trust their answers can't be traced back to them, which is exactly what produces useful data.
Most projects are scoped and underway within two weeks, and a standard engagement runs four to six weeks from kickoff to final report. Timing depends on survey complexity, how long you keep the survey open, and the depth of analysis you need. We agree on the timeline up front so you always know what to expect.
Pricing depends on the scope: the number of employees surveyed, the complexity of the questions, and whether you want add-ons like follow-up interviews or manager-level breakouts. A study built from one of our standard templates is typically a more economical starting point than a fully custom design. Because every engagement is different, we provide a fixed quote after a short scoping conversation, so there are no surprises.
No. We handle the entire process end to end, including the survey platform, distribution, and data collection. You don't need to buy a people-analytics tool or manage anything technical. You receive a finished report you can act on immediately.
Common areas include engagement and morale, drivers of turnover, manager effectiveness, onboarding experience, culture and inclusion, and friction in specific business processes. Surveys can be fully custom-designed around your specific questions, and we also offer standard, ready-to-go templates for measuring core areas like engagement and satisfaction. If you have a question about your workforce, we can usually design research to answer it, or tell you honestly if a survey isn't the right tool.
Research is valuable at nearly any size, though the approach adapts to your headcount. Smaller organizations get more emphasis on qualitative depth and open-ended responses, while larger ones allow for statistically robust breakdowns across teams and demographics. We design the study to fit your size.
A plain-language report with clear findings, supporting charts, and concrete, prioritized recommendations, written so you can walk it straight into a leadership meeting. We also include a debrief to talk through the results and answer questions.
Those tools let you collect responses, but they don't design valid questions, ensure your data holds up, or interpret what the results mean. The value here is the research expertise: PhD-level methodology, rigorous analysis, and recommendations grounded in what the data actually supports, not just a spreadsheet of raw responses.
Yes. Every report ends with specific, prioritized recommendations rather than vague observations. And the engagement doesn't have to end there. If you'd like hands-on help building or executing on what the research uncovers, whether that's designing an intervention, rolling out changes, or measuring their impact, I can stay on to support that work directly. That's scoped and priced separately from the survey and reporting, so you only pay for the additional help if and when you want it.
